What’s the story behind you and your business?
For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the body and mind, and what they are capable of! As a Registered Massage Therapist, movement and meditation teacher, I have spent years learning as much as I could about our beautiful minds and bodies, from the inside out.
The magic of mind-body connection changed the course of my life! I hopped-ship from University where I had been pursuing a career as an Elementary French Teacher and pulled a complete 180 to follow my heart and begin what I realize now was my true journey. Fast forward several years later. I own a multidisciplinary clinic in the heart of my city doing what I love! I have created an environment to hold space for every individual; both a clinic and a studio embracing mind, body, and spirit – where healthcare and relaxation meet – barefoot.
What has the experience of launching a new business been like, for you?
Watching my dream (barefoot) career come to fruition has been an incredible experience! It has connected me with some amazing people and has created a vessel for me to connect, support and share my passion for teaching. Again and again, it reiterates to me that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. I knew that I needed to create a life that felt right – THIS feels right! I am part of a dynamic team, and we have a following of patients and students that make coming to work a dream! I have always had a LOT of energy – it always surprises me when I’m told how calm I am. I am grateful for my energy to do what I need to do when things get a bit hairy – and also grateful for space that I have created for moments when I want to slow everything down and spend time with me.
What keeps you inspired and gives you bliss?
Seeing people feeling fulfilled, happy and thriving in their lives to me, is pure bliss! I love catching those contagious, positives vibes people emit when they are really loving life! Being able to become part of their journey by supporting them through my career is bliss. I love being surrounded by people! If I need a dose of inspiration, I will throw myself into a group and enjoy that energetic connection! The feeling I get when a tribe comes together lights up my soul!
What do you hope to share with your customers?
As a teacher, I help to facilitate my students’ connection between their mind and body. I want to share what I’ve learned about striking a balance between effort and ease. I want to help others recognize that movement is not just about the physical body, it is just as much about the mind the energetic body and the soul body. It’s easy to be, “just like the picture” – but I want my students to really get into their bodies, dig deep into their minds and move them as one.
With my background in physical fitness, my anatomical training and appreciation for movement, I offer guidance that creates a safe space to explore movement, whether you’re at the beginning of your yoga practice or trying to nail that advanced pose. My classes range from gentle and restorative to more challenging while holding space for strength, softness and mindful moments. I strive to make my classes accessible to everyone and everybody.
While practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist I have heard many times, “nobody has ever done that before!” – and there’s a good chance that I’ve never done that before either! I seem to have a knack for really tuning into a body and to feel what’s happening. I want to share with my Massage clients that their bodies are designed to feel amazing! Let the beauty of what you love to be what you do!
Do you have a favorite travel and/or retreat memory? What was it?
Several years ago now, I traveled to Mexico with my family. While we were adventuring amongst the Mayan Ruins exploring, I found a moment to myself and I walked to the far side of the beach. I was far enough from everyone that all I could hear were the waves, and when I stood facing the water, all I could see was the horizon. I stood there by myself with my toes in the sand and the water lapping my feet and was overpowered by such a strong feeling of emotion like I had been reunited with my long-lost mother. It was SO powerful. I felt as though I had finally come home. Other than the birth of my child, I have never felt joy like this! I am undoubtedly connected to the ocean, and if Atlantis is real – that is where I am from!
