Women do it all. They take care of the kids, the house, their marriage, and their jobs. Their day often starts before the sun is up and rolls at a steady pace until well after everyone goes to bed. Busy women are committed to doing whatever it takes to get everything done, but often times this can mean overlooking their own self care. This can lead to feelings of exhaustion, stress, and anxiety, all of which can take a toll on health if not addressed.
It’s important for women to take time to nurture themselves to stay in balance and at their best. Below are four suggestions on easy ways to incorporate simple relaxation techniques into an already busy day.

1. Yoga and Meditation – whether it’s an active yoga practice or simple meditation to clear your mind, dedicate at least ten minutes a day for quiet time just for yourself. This can be in the morning before the rest of the family wakes or at the end of the day to prepare your body for sleep, the important element is for it to be time to yourself. Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed by the phone, the TV, or the family, and try to quiet your mind. Choose an affirmation to focus on and set the intention of clearing your mind of anything else. Incorporate deep breathing and other relaxation techniques, and you’ll be amazed at how relaxed and rejuvenated you can feel after just ten minutes. This relieves anxiety, reduces stress, and leaves you feeling calm and confident, all of which help you conquer the daily challenges of your busy life.
2. Crystal Healing – although somewhat new to mainstream society, crystal healing has been around for centuries. Organic crystals have historically been used as a health remedy for strength, healing, warding off intoxication, and preparing for battle. Although our battles have changed with modern times, busy moms can still use all the help they can get. Modern crystal therapy focuses on the belief that these stones release positive ions than help improve both physical and mental health. Among the most popular crystals are Agate, Amethyst, Lepidolite, Jet Stones, Danburite, Blue Topaz, and Tourmaline. These are commonly used to increase a sense of calmness, clarify thoughts, reduce anxiety and worry, and increase self-confidence. Crystal healing can be as simple as wearing a piece of jewelry incorporating the stones, holding one of crystals while meditating, or visiting a wellness center for a speciality massage.
3. Aromatherapy – similar to the idea behind crystal therapy, aromatherapy uses a variety of scents to evoke a sense of calm, promote relaxation, and decrease stress. Scents such as tea tree, vanilla, lavender, peppermint, and citrus are known to be particularly helpful. The scent can be in a candle used to softly light a room, essential oils to put in your bath or rub on your temples, body lotions to be massaged into the skin, or infused into hot tea for a soothing beverage. Whatever method you choose, aromatherapy is a convenient and inexpensive way to bring a bit of calm and relaxation into your day

4. A Hot Bath and A Glass of Wine – when all else fails, you have the reliable stand by of drawing yourself a hot bath (perhaps with a lovely essential oil added), lighting a candle, and sipping a glass of wine before going to bed. The hot water will your ease your taxed muscles while the wine and candlelight can relax your mind and quiet the busyness of the day. You’ll feel rested and ready for a good night’s sleep.
Moms are essential to the daily business of getting things done. They work from morning to night taking care of everyone else while often neglecting their own self-care. By incorporating a few minutes of relaxation or meditation into her day, she can rejuvenate and be ready to take on another day.
