Building your own self-confidence is a complex process. A great deal contributes to how you strengthen your relationship with yourself, both mentally and physically.
While your mentality makes up the majority of where your self-confidence comes from, there are a few surface-level physical things you can do to give yourself that extra boost. One of those things is how you choose to dress yourself.
If you’re looking to give your confidence a little extra boost, look no further! Below are a few styling tips that can help guide you to stronger self confidence and overall happiness.

Dress Comfortably
The first step when dressing for confidence is to make sure that no matter what you’re wearing, you’re comfortable. Comfortable clothing can take many forms, and is mostly dependent on your individual preferences. For most, the first thing that comes to mind is sweatpants. For others, a dress might be the clothing they feel the most at-ease in.
No matter what you choose to wear on the outside, your undergarments will contribute a great deal to how comfortable and confident you feel in your appearance. There’s nothing worse than wearing underwear that is too tight or made of uncomfortable fabric.
When getting dressed to feel your best, start with cotton panties for ultimate comfort. Cotton underwear is stretchy and comfortable, so much so that it won’t even cross your mind throughout the day. The less time you spend thinking about how uncomfortable your clothes are during the day, the more you’ll be able to focus on feeling like your best self.

Feel Secure
Wearing clothing that you feel secure in, whether that be something full-coverage, tight fitting, strappy, or loose and flowy, has the power to make you feel more confident. When you know that your clothing isn’t going to give you any malfunctions during your day, you are able to more easily go about your activities without worry.
Clothing should never get in the way of you doing whatever you have planned for the day. Often, when we opt for clothing that is completely outside of our comfort zone or just simply isn’t easy to wear, we are more likely to feel insecure, and generally unconfident. So go ahead and put on your best fitting clothes, whether that be anything from athletic leisure to a dress.

Utilize Color
There is a true science to how colors make you feel. The same applies to wearing clothing of certain colors. If you want to feel like your best self, try wearing a color that encourages that feeling.
Depending on your mood and what feeling you want to get from your outfit that day, try wearing something in the color of the mood you are going for. For example, if you want to feel confident and happy, a color like yellow can help you outwardly express that feeling to yourself and others. The color yellow is said to symbolize happiness, and what better than the feeling of happiness to spark a sense of self confidence!

Pick Something Flattering
This next tip might be a bit obvious, but when dressing to boost your confidence, you should try to search for a look that is figure-flattering. When you feel your best features are being represented, and alternatively that the features that you’re less confident about are concealed, you are sure to exude confidence.
Flattering clothing is not universal. It varies from person to person based on your own individual preferences and body type. Rather than focusing solely on what clothes are supposed to be flattering for your body type and shape, decide for yourself what you think looks best on you. It doesn’t matter if others agree that what you are wearing looks flattering, so long as you feel good about yourself.
Too often our sense of self-confidence comes from the validation of others. When it comes to dressing to boost your confidence, your opinion is the only one that matters. Remember, confidence comes from within.
