Do you have a
fear of sharks? As a general rule sharks do not eat people. Sharks
are the garbage collectors of the ocean and they play an important part
in keeping our oceans clean. Sharks have electromagnetic sensors on
their snout and they can detect our body vibrations (aura) from great
distances. Sharks are attracted to the impulses put off from injured and
sick animals. They can also detect blood from a great distance, but
cutting your foot on a coral reef or menstruating does not put out the
type of vibration to cause a shark to attack. The original Hawaiians
felt that large sharks were protectors of swimmers and surfers because
sharks are our reincarnated ancestors (Aumakua). As a biologist I see
much more truth in this belief than I do in any facts presented for the
argument that sharks east people. In the past 20 years, ten times as my
people died from falling coconuts than from shark bites.

Dear
SwellWomen, I was wondering why you don't have any Experiences in the
summer time. Is this not an ideal time to learn how to surf on
Maui? Thanks, Lisa
Aloha Lisa, The summer time is also a
wonderful time to learn how to surf on Maui. In fact, Maui is very
conducive to beginners all year around and especially on the west side
of Maui where SwellWomen is located. Our accommodations weren't
available for the summer of 2004, however we will be offering several
Summer of 2005 SwellWomen and SwellMates Experiences. In the meantime,
if you are planning to come to Maui in the summer we offer surf and yoga
4-hour workshops daily from 8:30am-12:30pm Monday thru Friday or 2- hour
surf lessons for both private and group Monday thru Friday.. To book
your lesson, please call 808.281.8664 and mention SwellWomen.

Please read
about what past SwellWomen guests have to say about their SwellWomen
Experience and feel free to send them an e-mail with any questions that
you may have. "I get all teary eyed when I think of my experience
with SwellWomen. The time spent and lessons learned with the
wonderful women from the Experience was priceless for me. We all had our
own reasons for attending SwellWomen, be it to learn to surf, to just
take a break and relax, or to just be in the moment and live. For me, I
took in every second of the Experience! A huge thank you to all the
beautiful people who made it what it was...a truly life changing event
for me. I found some major answers in my life and I also got to learn to
surf and take in the wonderful environment. Me-Shell mahalo for living
your dream...for without your dream I would have not found mine! I will
certainly be back for another round of SwellWomen! Surf's Up
